18 May 2022:

The annual cricket match between the President's XI and Clare Hall students is back for 2022! It will be held on Wednesday 19 June at the Leckhampton sports ground from 1.30pm.

The midsummer match has long been one of the most enjoyable events in the College calendar and we hope to draw a large crowd, so do come along for an afternoon of cricket in pleasant surroundings, with good food and great company. The event is free and open to all, and details on how to book will be circulated shortly. We welcome new players and volunteers, experienced or not, so if you would like to get involved and give the game a go, please email cricket@clarehall.cam.ac.uk

The match will be accompanied by a celebratory Cricket Dinner in the evening, bookable via Upay soon.

25 October 2021:

College President, Professor Alan Short, can expect to face a tough challenge from incoming students after a meeting at Fenners last weekend. Eighteen newcomers, a record number, turned up for the first cricket nets of the 2021-2 season and quickly showed they will prove a threat to any team the President can put in the field for the Grand Challenge Match in mid-June. Newcomers included several experienced players from the Subcontinent, some baseball players with a good eye and bags of enthusiasm from everyone else as Club Secretary Dylan Siriwardena and Senior Professional Josh Matthews put them through their paces with bat and ball.

The Club is looking to its newcomers to help run it in several ways, so volunteers are welcome and help is never refused. Initial signs are that this year will be a vintage year - come one, come all: the more players we can put in the field, the more games we will play.
