Clare Hall also offers a ‘Light Lunch’ option as part of the menu choices in the dining hall. Consisting of soup (or sharing board when available) and a sandwich it is a lighter, less expensive option for our members. Light lunches are priced at £3.50 for students and £5.50 for all other College members and staff.

Prices and Payment
All members of the College pay for meals using Upaychilli and cash is not accepted in the Dining Hall. Any allowances are credited to your card. Meals will then be charged to your card. Payments for guests will also be via their College member/host’s Upaychilli account. Cash can, however, be accepted at the bar and for other purchases in College.
For returning Life Members without a University card who are staying in College, a ‘Guest Room Meals Card' will be available from the Porters’ Lodge.
Guests at Formal Hall
College members may bring a maximum of 3 guests.
If you are an authorised GSB member arranging a Formal Hall Swap, these must have prior agreement from the Senior Tutor. You will also need to tell us the number of guests you are bringing, the name of the College that the students are from and which students from Clare Hall are co-hosting the event with you. Formal Hall Swaps are limited to two per term and for 20 guests at each event.
The use of electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets is not permitted at dining events. Please ensure that your devices are switched off or silenced before meals begin.
Dining Hall Dress Code
In keeping with the general ethos of the College, informal dress is acceptable for all meals except Formal Halls, where jacket and tie are the guideline standard for gentlemen, and Feasts, where dinner suits are welcomed but are not essential. Appropriate attire for ladies is at their discretion. Gowns are rarely worn in College, except at Graduation Dinners.
