Professor Andreas Kulick

Andreas Kulick holds the Chair of Public International Law at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

He has held several visiting professor positions in Germany and is a regular visiting fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law at the University of Cambridge and has been Global Fellow at NYU School of Law as well as visiting fellow at the European University Institute and the University of Amsterdam, among others. He has been Member of several Committees and Study Groups of the International Law Association and has experience as counsel and advisor to states in proceedings before international courts and tribunals. Professor Kulick is the author of three monographs and five edited volumes, including General International Law in International Investment Law – A Commentary (OUP 2024, with Michael Waibel) as well as numerous publications on many areas of public international law and select matters of comparative constitutional law and legal theory. He is a generalist public international lawyer with specific interests in sources, subjectivity and responsibility in international law as well as international adjudication, international economic law, international human rights and technology and international law. During his visit at Clare Hall and the Lauterpacht Centre for International, he will focus on his project “Corporate Influence on International Law”, specifically the preparation of The Oxford Handbook of Global Corporations and International Law (co-editor with Doreen Lustig and Andrew Sanger, OUP 2027, in preparation) as well as first sketches of a monograph on the interaction between states and corporations in shaping international law (“Corporate Sovereigns” – working title).
