Andrew McDonald is President of the Graduate Student Body Committee (GSB) 2023/24.

Andrew completed his undergraduate studies in 2022 at Michigan State University, where he earned degrees in Computer Science, Advanced Mathematics, and Statistics as an Alumni Distinguished Scholar and Goldwater Scholar. He joined Clare Hall in 2022 as a Marshall Scholar and Gates Cambridge Scholar pursuing an MRes and PhD in AI for the Study of Environmental Risk and works with the British Antarctic Survey on applications of machine learning in polar science. More broadly, Andrew is interested in advancing the application of data-driven models in earth and climate science.

Andrew served as Green Officer of the GSB throughout the 2022/23 academic year alongside Sarah Gough.

Outside of academics, Andrew is an avid skier, runner, hiker, and outdoorsperson with a love for travelling and coffee.
