Please email email@example.com for requests to reside in College. Overnight guests should be recorded as usual via the Porters’ Lodge. On leaving College, please return keys to the Porters’ Lodge.
Returners to College are encouraged to take LFT or PCR tests if available, to minimise potential Covid spread. International arrivals should review the GOV UK travel advice page, which outlines rules, caveats, and links to test providers.
Those isolating on arrival will be granted access to an area immediately outside their accommodation after receipt of a negative Day 2 test, within designated times. Joining a shared household or entering College is forbidden until completion of the full isolation period required by law.
Breaches of isolation or quarantine protocols without explicit authority are considered serious disciplinary matters; cases will be referred to the College Dean.
Tests are conducted on Wednesday morning; pool leads (notified by the Accommodation Manager) should collect packs from the Porters’ Lodge and arrange with all members of their pool to take tests on Wednesday morning, returning them to the Porters’ Lodge as instructed. Issues recording tests should be sent with the relevant TK code, to firstname.lastname@example.org, who may then be able to track a result. To date there are no positive cases recorded in Clare Hall.
Please direct general catering queries to email@example.com including any request for meals during isolation.
More information on dining at Clare Hall is available here.
The Red Brick Cafe Bar at Robinson College is open for business once more. Use of other dining facilities by Clare Hall students is still to be confirmed.
Private or external events requests should be made via firstname.lastname@example.org, especially if requesting room hire, music, IT / AV, or catering.
Please note that events in College require a list of attendees, and ad hoc events (e.g. seated dining at lunch) require attendees to book in on arrival. In all cases, the use of LFT or PCR kits prior to entering College is encouraged.
College communal spaces remain available for booking here. Please log in with your cam.ac.uk address to reduce delays in accessing the sheet.
ALB. Capacity-limited seating is available in the bar area and balcony (please take chairs inside on departure). Current opening hours are Saturday 8–11 pm only.
BBQ. The Clare Hall BBQ at West Court is available to book via the room booking sheet. The event lead should provide a list of attendees to the Porters’ Lodge, and will receive a key providing access to the BBQ box and a downstairs toilet in Gillian Beer House.
Pool. The lead organiser for each group (Slot 1) takes responsibility for obtaining an access card from the Porters’ Lodge. The pool is available from 09.00 – 22.00 every day but several hours will be shared with children taking lessons; these are highlighted in orange on the booking sheet. Additionally, the last slot of the day between Tuesday and Sunday is reserved for single-sex swimming (men and women on alternating days). This will be colour-coded each day. Changing rooms are now open for use as normal, and the one-way system has been removed.
Gym. The gym is open 09.00 – 22.00 daily, with space for up to four users including two on the rowing machines outside. Please take care to keep the rowing machines underneath the awning, to prevent rain damage. In due course we aim to introduce a 24-hour gym service.
Memberships. Pool and gym memberships are required from 1 October for all but new students (who have a grace period until 17 October to determine if they wish to take membership). The membership form is available here.
Laundry. There is no longer a requirement to log laundry done at Clare Hall; all fees are included in rent and machines may be used as much as required.
Import / Shipping Fees. College will not pay VAT, import, or shipping fees on behalf of residents. Please ensure fees are paid directly to the courier to avoid delays in receiving orders.
Feedback. Please continue use the College Feedback Page to provide both positive feedback and areas for improvement, which will be directed to the relevant staff. Please note: your comments will be treated confidentially; it is very hard to meaningfully respond to or engage with anonymous comments.
