‘Wilhelm Grewe's Epochs of International Law and the 21st Century. In which Epoch are we living?’
Wilhelm G. Grewe's Epochen der Völkerrechtsgeschichte (1984) is widely regarded as one of the classic twentieth-century works of international law. However, much has changed since then and Grewe's approach to international legal history is challenged. In my talk, I would like to present on the different ways of conceptualising time and history in international law and share some thoughts on the question, in which "Epoch" of international law we are living today.
