Giving from Canada

For many years the Development Office at Clare Hall has been able to issue tax receipts to enable our Canadian Life Members to claim tax relief on donations to Clare Hall.  However, there have been some recent changes in advice from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regarding the issuance of tax receipts you need to be aware of.

With effect from 11 May 2017, the University will no longer be able to issue Canadian tax receipts for donations received by Colleges or the Cambridge Trust. This guidance also applies to donations received by the University on behalf of another entity. Note that all previous donations are unaffected by the guidance as it does not have to be backdated. We, along with all the Cambridge colleges are working with the University and its Development department, CUDAR, on finding a way forward.  You can of course still donate to Clare Hall, but not claim tax relief.  We will keep you updated on any changes.   Meanwhile, please don't hesitate to contact the Development Office if you have any questions.
