Goodwill Messages for Professor David Ibbetson

Clare Hall President 2013 - 2020

This July Professor David Ibbetson will be stepping down as President of Clare Hall, a position he has held for the last seven years.

David came to Clare Hall, from Corpus Christi, one of the more traditional Cambridge colleges. However, he quickly came to love what makes Clare Hall so different from the other colleges in Cambridge – the small scale, the informal approach, the stimulating social and intellectual life and the strong bond between the College and its Life Members.

Only a few months ago we were planning various events and meetings for David so he could say his goodbye’s and meet with Life Members one last time. Sadly, all these plans had to be shelved due to the Covid-19 pandemic and ensuing restrictions on travel and meetings.

I know this has been very disappointing to David, who as President has been one of the most pro-active in meeting with Life Members, whether in Cambridge or abroad. So instead, we invite you to share any greetings or a message you might have for David. We aim to collate these and present them to him and the Fellowship in July. We also hope to share some of them on the Clare Hall website, so please let us know if you don’t want your message to be shown publicly.
