The programme illuminates the highly experimental nature of the solo Suites by Bach and the way they inspired and paved the way for 20th-century cello solo works that followed, especially Britten's masterpiece.

European and Japanese Piano Music: Nature and Life

Known for her sensitivity for creating musical timbres, Japanese native and virtuoso pianist Noriko Ogawa presents an imaginative programme combining contemporary music from Japan alongside some of the pillars of the Western piano repertoire. The programme highlights the influence of Debussy’s evocative works and Liszt’s epic piano sonata on the themes and sonorities of leading Japanese composers of our time.
