The Dining Room will close after lunch on the 24th March, re-opening on the 29th March at 12.30pm.  There will be a Formal Hall on Wednesday 30th March, please book by 2pm on the 29th March. The Porters' Lodge will be open as usual over the Easter period.

Dr David Gosling hosts 'Frontier of Fear' book launch

Former Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams was the guest speaker at the launch of a new book on Pakistan by Clare Hall Life Member Dr David Gosling. Over 60 guests attended the launch of ‘Frontier of Fear’ at Magdalene College last week.  In the book Dr Gosling discusses his time on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, his encounters with the Taliban and why education is the best weapon against terrorism.

Clare Hall Catering Manager set for marathon charity run

Clare Hall Catering Manager Jason Fretwell is currently in training for this year's London Marathon, running in aid of Grief Encounter, a charity which supports bereaved children and their families by helping to alleviate the pain caused by the death of a loved one.  To help with fundraising he also recently hosted a charity ball (pictured) in the Lady Chapel of Ely Cathedral successfully raising over £11,000.

Art exhibition opening

On Thursday evening the Fortitudo art exhibition was officially opened by Hon. Alexandra Shackleton, granddaughter of Sir Ernest Shackleton. The event was also attended by the artist Paola Folicaldi Suh, the principle organisers Peter Wadhams and Maria Pia Casarini and a number of guests.  The exhibition brings to life the dramatic history of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s expedition to the Antarctic in the Endurance 1914-1917 and is the product of a two year 'epic paint cycle' by the artist to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the expedition.

Clare Hall Research Fellow receives a Wellcome Trust University Award

Clare Hall Research Fellow Dr Stephen Mawdsley, will be taking up a Wellcome Trust University Award at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow on 1st May 2016.
