On 11 October, Clare Hall went back to 1966 during a special formal organised by the Graduate Student Body (GSB). New and old students were brought together for a vibrant evening during Freshers’ Week, to celebrate the foundation of Clare Hall. While 60’s hits were playing through the speakers, guests enjoyed a wonderful themed menu including shrimp cocktails and melba roulade. The Clare Hall Chronicle, a newspaper printed especially for the occasion, taught attendees all about the foundation of our “rebellious informal” college and the events of 1966. Did you know, for example, that Stephen Hawking received his PhD at Cambridge and England won the World Cup in the same year that Clare Hall was founded?
The GSB is delighted that the evening was such a huge success. We hope to see you all again at our next event.
