Clare Hall has developed a brand new IT network which has resulted in high-speed connectivity across the college. The project was carried out in collaboration with UIS (University Information Services) Networks Division after they launched an initiative to share its IT expertise with Cambridge colleges last year.

On the 14 July Clare Hall hosted our first reunion for members who were at Clare Hall during the Pippard years, 1966 to 1973, whether as a student, Visiting Fellow or Fellow. 35 guests took part in the celebrations and were joined by Charlotte Pippard, and daughters Eleanor, Charlotte and Debbie.

Salje Medals are awarded annually by Clare Hall to two of our research students – one in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and one in the Sciences. The medals are given in recognition of the high standard of the student's PhD thesis and publication record.

On 21 June the University of Cambridge presented its 2017 'Cambridge Green Challenge' awards. The ceremony recognised the efforts of staff and students working to improve environmental performance in their places of work and study throughout the 2016/17 academic year. Professor Ian Leslie, the University’s Senior Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor with special responsibility for Environmental Sustainability, presented the awards to the winners in each category.

Clare Hall has a vibrant international community of Fellows, Visiting Fellows and students. In celebration of this, the College organises an annual international week of activities and experiences to reflect the culture, history and life of different regions. This year we are putting the spotlight on the Nordic Countries: Denmark, Norway, Sweden & Finland, with a varied programme exploring their architecture, literature, music and culinary delights, not to mention hygge.

14 Clare Hall Postdocs attended a Formal Hall swap with Trinity College on 7 June. This wonderful event was preceded by a special invitation to participate in the inaugural Trinity Forum Talks, which consisted of a series of 20 short talks by Trinity postgraduates, and a networking session in the Master's Lodge and Garden. Clare Hall postdocs very much enjoyed meeting and dining with Trinity postdocs in the great hall.
We look forward to hosting our Trinity friends in a few weeks’ time.
