Professor Alan Short wins engineering award for Addenbrookes building research

The Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) has awarded Clare Hall Fellow, Professor Alan Short, the Carter Bronze Medal for his 2016 paper A medium-rise 1970s maternity hospital in the east of England: Resilience and adaptation to climate change. He also recently featured in the CIBSE Journal talking about the art of natural ventilation and how studying architectural design from the past can help tackle the pressures of climate change in the future.

Professor Short has also been selected to receive research funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) as part of the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) call. The project, Excising Infection in Surgical Environments 2017-19 will research innovative approaches to tackle antimicrobial resistance in indoor and built environments.  The AHRC team working on this project with Professor Short includes Clare Hall Research Fellow, Lucia Tantardini.
