David E Neal CBE, FMedSci FRCS, FFPM
Professor David Neal is Senior Vice President for Global Research at Elsevier (firstname.lastname@example.org) where he heads the Research Collaboration Unit. He is a senior research and clinical leader who works on the development of informatic tools and is responsible for the International Centre for the Study of Research (ICSR) (https://www.elsevier.com/icsr).
Professor Neal spent most of his career as an academic surgeon. He was Professor of Surgical Oncology and Senior Group Leader at the CRUK Cambridge Institute (2002-14)and Clinical Director at Cambridge University Hospitals; Professor of Surgical Oncology at Oxford (2015-19) and Professor of Surgery, Head of School and Director of Research at Newcastle (1992-2002). His research is into clinical and translational studies of urological cancers; molecular abnormalities of androgen receptor signalling and gene alterations in prostate cancer; and in the clinical and surgical treatment of patients with urological cancers. His contributions were recognised by the award of a CBE in the 2014 Queen’s New Year’s Honours List; the St Peter's Medal and many visiting Professorships and named Lectures. His other interests include playing the classical guitar, cricket, vintage British motorcycles & listening to music.
