Professor Jeffrey P. Bishop is a social and moral philosopher, teaching medical ethics, philosophy, and theology at Saint Louis University. He is also a physician and holds the Tenet Endowed Chair in bioethics.
Bishop's scholarly work is focused on the historical, political, and philosophical conditions that underpin contemporary medical and scientific practices and theories.
His first book, The Anticipatory Corpse: Medicine, Power, and the Care of the Dying is a philosophical history of the care of the dying, from ICU care to palliative care. While at Clare Hall, Bishop will be engaged in projects related to the philosophy of technology, culture, and the body.
