John Murphy is interested in all aspects of tort law, including its philosophical foundations. As regards purely doctrinal work, he was for over a decade the editor of Street on Torts (which is one of England’s most established student textbooks). For even longer than that he has been a member of the editorial team responsible for the leading practitioner work on the subject: Clerk and Lindsell on Torts.
Over the last ten years or so, he has also produced a sizeable number of articles on many different aspects of tort law. These have been published in leading law reviews in England, Canada, the USA and Australia; and some have been cited by the English Court of Appeal, the House of Lords and the High Court of Australia.
In Cambridge, John is working on a monograph concerning The Politics and Province of the Economic Torts.
