Juan Manuel Bermúdez-García is a PhD in Environmental and Fundamental Chemistry by the University of A Coruña (Spain). His research is focused on the design and study of multifunctional hybrid organic-inorganic materials that can provide innovative solutions to the current environmental challenges.
In November 2017, Juan was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship for a joint position at the Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy of the University of Cambridge and at the Department of Chemistry of the University of A Coruña, under the supervision of Xavier Moya (Cambridge) and María A. Señarís-Rodríguez (A Coruña). During this fellowship, Juan is working on the development of hybrid materials for eco-friendly solid-state refrigerants as a promising alternative to the pollutant and hazardous gas refrigerants that we are using nowadays.
Dr Juan M. Bermúdez-García is also very active in outreach and science communication activities. He has given invited talks in prestigious platforms, such as TEDxCambridgeUniversity, TEDxGalicia, Pint of Science and Naukas Pro, among others. Moreover, he runs a science communication channel, featured on Chemical and Engineering News magazine (C&EN), @thermogramer, which is available on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
