Dr Lin is a Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellow funded by the Wellcome Trust in the UK Dementia Research Institute at the University of Cambridge, Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, mentored by Professor Giovanna Mallucci and Professor Clemens Kaminski. She studies localised protein production in neurons and its contributions to neuronal health and death using advanced imaging and multi-omics approaches, with a particular focus on neurodegenerative diseases.

She received her PhD in 2018, supervised by Professor Christine Holt in the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience. Her PhD work explored how RNA localisation and local protein synthesis jointly regulate RNA and protein compositions in long neuronal extensions, 'axons'.
