An Evening of Piano Quartets with the Rossetti Ensemble
We are delighted to present the second concert in Clare Hall’s Herschel Concert Series 2025/26, featuring the acclaimed Rossetti Ensemble in an evening of piano quartets.
The programme opens with a rarity – Schubert’s very first work for piano and strings, written three years before the Trout Quintet. The Brahms first piano quartet will be familiar to many, especially for its finale “Alla Zingarese”.
The evening concludes with Vincent d’Indy’s Piano Quartet — a major work in the French chamber music tradition, reflecting the influence of his teacher César Franck and now regarded as one of the most significant contributions to the genre.
Programme:
- Schubert Adagio and Rondo Concertante
- Brahms Piano Quartet 1 in G minor
- D’Indy Piano Quartet
