About the College

Clare Hall was established in 1966 and is now one of the 31 colleges in the University of Cambridge, providing an academic home for around 200 students, some 60 Fellows, a large number of visiting academics and 67 staff.

Our membership is distinctively international, ethnically diverse, and actively promotes the inclusion of families. Together with its egalitarian ethos, this helps to create a highly productive and enjoyable working environment. Clare Hall sits in peaceful surroundings to the west of the Backs, along the south side of Herschel Road.

All staff may enjoy free lunches while at work and kitchens are open. Clare Hall also offers life assurance; a health cash plan; cycle-to-work scheme; free parking (subject to availability); use of our gym and indoor heated swimming pool; and a contributory pension scheme.
