Call for Applications: Industry and Enterprise Fellowships at Clare Hall

2 April 2025 Fellows

Clare Hall is pleased to announce a call for applications for Industry and Enterprise Fellowships, a new category of senior membership aimed at individuals with an established research and/or commercialisation track record seeking sustained engagement with the college. Candidates would be expected, particularly but not exclusively, from the research-intensive tech and biotech enterprises concentrated within the Cambridge ecosystem.

Clare Hall is a college for advanced study at the University of Cambridge offering an intellectually stimulating, interdisciplinary setting for postgraduate students, postdoctoral affiliates and Fellows. With around 300 students, we are the smallest college by student number but also home to the largest Visiting Fellowship programme, with around 40 visiting senior academics in residence each year. Our Governing Body is enriched by 24 Research Fellows in addition to those with more senior positions within the University. We also have senior members from varying professions beyond academia: the result is a diverse and constantly refreshed, yet close-knit international community with a focus on research.

The college runs a number of Special Interest Groups and has recently announced the establishment of an Entrepreneurship Prize to support budding entrepreneurs with links to Clare Hall. We have members with close links to Cambridge’s innovation ecosystem, providing an intellectually stimulating and diverse environment to foster new collaborations and ventures. With this new membership category, Clare Hall is looking to increase cross-disciplinary interactions with industry experts and innovators.

Industry and Enterprise Fellows will be appointed for a renewable period of two years and will receive a meal allowance to facilitate their engagement with the college. The Fellows will be elected senior members of the college, of non-voting status. They will be eligible to use the college’s facilities, participate in and/or lead seminar series, attend college functions, and more generally be an active part of this unique Cambridge community. We are seeking to appoint two to three Fellows through the initial call, which we anticipate subsequently will be made annually.

Applications must include the following documents in PDF and must be made online using the following link.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 18th May 2025. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an informal meeting at Clare Hall on 28th-30th May. Decisions will be communicated in the third week of June.
