Health and welfare

We take the health and welfare of our students seriously. The following contact information has been compiled for current students, though the NHS details apply to all members of the College.

During office hours, help and advice can usually be obtained from a member of the Tutorial Office. The College also has a Nurse and a college-based counselling service, which you can find details of through Clare Hall’s Intranet. Students arriving at Clare Hall are advised to read the following information on vaccinations.

At all times, general assistance can be sought by contacting the College Porters – 01223 332360.

Any time, especially out-of-hours, call 111 when you need medical help or advice urgently for non life-threatening situations. You will be asked questions to assess your symptoms, and given healthcare advice or directed to the local service that can best help. Those without a UK mobile number can contact via https://111.nhs.uk/

In emergencies, for Fire, Ambulance, Police – call 999.

If you have a Mental Health Crisis, call 111 and select option 2.

If you would like to speak to someone out of hours during term time, you can contact the University Nightline service (anonymously by live chat, call, email or Skype).

You can also contact the Samaritans service in Cambridge (they are usually open to visitors from 10.30am to 10pm) and you can call them at no charge on 116 123. They are available at any time of the day or night, 365 days of the year.
