Clare Hall Cricket Club wins match against West Cambridge

25 July 2025 College life

Following an exciting annual match, Clare Hall Cricket Club has won a classic, last-ball cricket victory over old rivals, West Cambridge C.C. (formerly Cavendish/Computer Labs) at Churchill on Wednesday, 16th July.

Read a full match report below, written by John Drew, the Twelfth Man:

“Playing our tenth game of a fixture-filled season, under the one-off double-whammy captaincy of Rishul and Ryan, reinforced by the college’s Millennial champion Seb, the tight bowling of these three, Glen and the two Sams, ably supported by Owen who, never having played before, took two wickets in his single over, limited a strong opposition to 111 runs. After Owen and rookie Travis, taking guard as never before, opened against a formidable Subcontinental bowling attack and Ryan had hit his mandatory six, a composed unbeaten innings by Glen eventually saw him and Unni, returning to the field after retiring on a maximum, conducting the tail up to the finale of a could-have-been-caught, could-have-been-run-out last ball single. Mythical. Everyone in the team, playing one short, had their determined moment, not excluding… Twelfth Man”
