From Fireworks to Forever: Jonathan Tay and Kimberly Anderson’s story
Clare Hall is delighted to share the wonderful news that Dr Jonathan Tay and Dr Kimberly Anderson, both Alumni and Life Members of the College, have recently celebrated their wedding.
The couple first met in September 2016 at the ALB during a welcome event for new postgraduates. A conversation – and a playful disagreement about MRI machines – soon sparked a connection that would last well beyond their Cambridge years.

A few weeks later, on Bonfire Night, they found themselves unexpectedly alone after the fireworks display. They decided to get dinner at Café Milano, a meal that was memorable for all the wrong reasons – an undercooked burger, a missing steak knife, and a restaurant that only accepted cash.
Kimberly recalls: ‘I asked how we should split the bill. ‘How about I pay and let’s call this a date?’ – Jonathan replied taking out his card, just as the waitress appeared to say they were only taking cash. So I paid!‘
From that light-hearted beginning grew a relationship that weathered multiple degrees, international moves, and new careers. Five years later, on another Bonfire Night, Jonathan proposed.

Clare Hall warmly congratulates Jonathan and Kimberly on their marriage and wishes them every happiness in the years ahead!
