Dr Ralitsa Madsen honoured with prestigious Dame Anne McLaren Medal
Clare Hall Alumna and Life Member Dr Ralitsa Madsen has been awarded the 2025 Dame Anne McLaren Early Career Medal by the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE). The honour recognises her outstanding contributions to Life Sciences and her pioneering work in understanding cellular signalling pathways.

Dr Madsen’s research, carried out within the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit (MRC-PPU), University of Dundee, has offered new insight into how the PI3K/AKT signalling network functions in human development and disease. Her lab’s work is helping to explain why genetic mutations in a single gene can lead to very different outcomes in different individuals, and is laying the groundwork for more precise, personalised medical approaches.
On receiving the Medal, Dr Madsen said she was “incredibly honoured and humbled”, dedicating the award to the patients whose lives her research aims to improve. She added that the recognition is a motivation for her team to “deliver meaningful advances” and to uphold the highest standards of scientific integrity.
Clare Hall congratulates Dr Madsen on this well-deserved award. Her success not only reflects her own dedication but also underscores the broader impact of the Clare Hall community in contributing to global scientific progress.
