An evening of song, tradition, and dance: Clare Hall celebrates Burns Night
Clare Hall was filled with warmth, music, and celebration yesterday evening as the College came together for its much-loved annual Burns Night, an occasion many guests described as the best Formal Hall they had ever experienced.
As tradition dictates, the evening began with a drinks reception accompanied by the Clare Hall Choir, whose performance of the lyrical My love is like a red, red rose created a reflective and beautifully atmospheric opening. Guests arrived dressed for the occasion, adding colour and character and setting the scene for a memorable celebration to follow.

The supper opened with the rousing Address to a Haggis, during which the haggis was ceremonially cut before later being served to the guests. Throughout the meal, guests enjoyed a series of speeches and addresses that brought humour, reflection, and plenty of laughter to the Hall. The formal part of the evening concluded in true Burns Night fashion, with everyone joining hands to sing Auld Lang Syne, followed by another uplifting performance from the Choir.

The celebrations continued well into the night with a lively ceilidh, led by the wonderful Cumberland Ceilidh Band, with Clare Hall Choir Director Ben de Souza taking to the accordion. The dance floor quickly filled as guests embraced the music, movement, and camaraderie that make Burns Night such a special fixture in the Clare Hall calendar.

It was an evening full of joy, tradition, and togetherness, one that will be fondly remembered by all who attended.
