Bell Collection plaque unveiled at Clare Hall

10 March 2026 College life

Yesterday, 9 March, Clare Hall marked an important moment in the history of the Bell Collection, a generous bequest of Associates Professor G.H. Bell and Mrs K.M. Bell, with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.

The plaque was unveiled by Lady Carolyn Seymour, a friend of Professor Alan Short. The ceremony brought together members of the Clare Hall community and guests connected with the College’s art programme and the Bell Collection.

Among those in attendance were Professor Frances Spalding, Chair of the Art Committee, and Fiona Blake, Secretary of the Art Committee, along with many Fellows, members, and friends of the College.

The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the significance of the Bell Collection within Clare Hall and to celebrate the ongoing commitment to art within the College community.
