Clare Hall Sports Formal
We are delighted to invite you to the upcoming Sports Formal on Wednesday 24 June, a special evening dedicated to celebrating the diverse sporting achievements and community spirit of our College.
In a significant expansion of our traditional cricket dinner held after the annual match, this year’s event has been redesigned to be more inclusive of the breadth of sports associated with our college. We wish to recognise and celebrate everyone who contributes to the sporting life of Clare Hall, including:
- College Teams: All those who have taken part and represented Clare Hall in any sport, including volleyball, basketball, football, badminton, rugby and cricket across all levels of internal and inter-collegiate competition.
- University Representatives: Individuals who have represented the University beyond the College, including Trialists and Blues in any discipline.
The celebrations will begin with a pre-dinner drinks reception in the Common Room, providing an opportunity for the community to gather and for particular sporting contributions and successes from the past year to be formally acknowledged. Following the reception, we will move into the Dining Hall for a celebratory Formal Hall.

We encourage team captains to coordinate with their squads to ensure a strong showing for their respective sports and suggest booking early given the likely popularity of this formal. Please note that standard guest quotas will apply, allowing you the opportunity to invite those from other colleges with whom you have shared the pitch or court this year.
Whether you are a seasoned athlete, a casual player in an informal league, or a supporter of our College teams, we look forward to seeing you there for what promises to be a vibrant highlight of the Easter Term.
