Dr Catrin Jones

Dr Catrin Jones is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the MRC Epidemiology Unit, within the Population Health Interventions Group.

Her research focuses on population-level interventions to improve the health and sustainability of the food system, with a particular emphasis on policy-driven approaches.

Catrin is particularly interested in evaluating interventions such as the Soft Drinks Industry Levy and examining how these policies interact within the broader food environment. By employing systems approaches, her work moves beyond linear outcome evaluations to capture the complex, interdependent factors shaping food choices and industry responses.

As a qualitative researcher, she explores the human lens through which the food system is perceived, integrating insights from behavioural science and systems thinking. Her work contributes to evidence-based policymaking that promotes public health, environmental sustainability, and cost-effective behaviour change strategies.
