Dr Julie Fendler

After an academic path that alternated between fundamental mathematics and applied statistics—resulting in degrees in both fields—Julie Fendler completed a PhD in biostatistics. Recently awarded her doctorate, she is currently a postdoctoral researcher within the MRC Biostatistics Unit at the University of Cambridge.

Her work focuses on inference for mixture models within the Bayesian paradigm, addressing various aspects such as the multimodality of the likelihood function, federated learning, and mixtures of non-standard distributions (jointly considering survival data, continuous data, and categorical data). Her research is motivated by applications in clinical research and/or epidemiology.
