Dr Olivia Nicoletti

Olivia is the Founding Partner of Vital Ventures (ex Haystack Ventures) a pan-European early-stage deep-tech fund, focusing on European technological sovereignty in computing, energy and health.

She is part of the College of Experts of the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology of the British Government, a group of 70 experts nation-wide providing expert advice to inform policies and projects. She is also a consultant for The World Bank in Technology Transfer practices in European emerging economies.

Before creating Vital, Olivia was a Director at PwC, where she supported startups in international fundraising rounds. Prior to that, Olivia was part of various early-stage deep-tech venture capital funds – Eureka! Venture, ACF Investors and Cambridge Enterprise (Ventures), where she invested in research-based deep-tech spinouts emerging from the work of academic and student entrepreneurs from the University of Cambridge.

Olivia holds a PhD in Materials Science and Metallurgy from the the University of Cambridge and a Masters and Bachelor in Physics from the University of Milan (Università Statale di Milano).

Olivia’s office hours are Friday afternoons. Please note that office hours will be predominantly via online call (as Olivia is Milan-based). Olivia will be in Cambridge indicatively one week every couple of months (calendar TBC). In those weeks, the office hours will be in person in College.
