Dr Quentin Harmer
Quentin is Chief Technology Officer at Endomag and Global Head of Breast Surgery R&D for Hologic.
An engineer, technologist, and mentor, Quentin has over twenty-five years’ experience in leading the development of advanced medical devices and drug-delivery systems.
He works at the interface of technology, clinical practice and medical regulation to understand clinical needs which informs the development of technologies and products.
Endomag’s surgical guidance systems allow surgeons to locate tumours and stage cancers more accurately and easily. Quentin joined as employee number two, and led the development of Endomag’s product portfolio, IP and clinical strategy. Today Endomag is part of global women’s health company, Hologic; its products are used in more than 40 countries on six continents; and over 750,000 breast cancer patients have been treated.
Quentin started his career at Cambridge Consultants working on healthcare, automotive, industrial and domestic projects. With four colleagues, he span-out a novel inhaler technology that was acquired by Vectura. He helped to establish Vectura’s device development centre in Cambridge, creating new inhaled therapies for asthma and COPD. He is an inventor on over 30 patent families and registered designs.
Quentin is a passionate advocate of more effective communication and visual literacy in presentations.
He can also be found playing cricket, woodcarving, wild swimming, or fixing things at a repair café.
