Dr Yukiko Kawamoto

Yukiko Kawamoto completed her BA and MA (History) in Japan, and was awarded a doctorate (Classics) from King’s College London in 2016 for her thesis entitled “The Vitruvian Peristyle: A Textual and Archaeological Study”. She has since held post-doctoral positions in Kyoto, Rome, Osaka, Munich, and Nagoya. In 2020, she joined the Department of Classics at Nagoya University as associate professor. Her main research area is Roman architectural history and architectural structures described in classical sources (Greek and Latin). She is also interested in the sociopolitical history of the late Roman Republic to the early Imperial period. Her current research project is on Roman gardens, and she explores the topic from archaeological and textual evidence.
