Big Science; Brain Science: Sciences Showcase and Networking Brunch

Date: Sunday 19 April 2026, 10am
Location: Clare Hall Dining Hall

Join us on Clare Hall’s 60th anniversary for presentations from the Big Science of the experimental and computational work behind particle discovery at CERN from Professor Ben Allanach (Fellow) and Dr Bipasha Chakraborty (Life Member) and of the development of the world largest telescope, the Square Kilometre Array, from Dr Oscar O’Hara (Life Member), followed by a panel discussion chaired by Dr Holly Hedgeland (Senior Tutor) and a networking brunch in connection with our newly-established Industry and Enterprise Programme.

The second session, Brain Science, chaired by Dr Madeline Lancaster (Fellow), will explore developments in our understanding of neuroscience with contributions from Drs Alex Anderson and Ashling Giblin (Research Fellows) and Dr Christelle Langley (Affiliated Postdoc) ranging from the role of mitochondria to the mechanisms of neurodegeneracy and the potential for pre-clinical indicators to enable targeted interventions before the onset of disease, followed by a further discussion panel with attendees.
