Clare College Choral Evensong, Lent 2026

Date: Sunday 25 January 2026, 6pm
Location: Clare College Chapel, Trinity Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1TL

To mark Clare College’s 700th anniversary, a series of special Sunday evening services will take place in Clare Chapel, each exploring a different century of the College’s history through reflection and music.

All Clare Hall members are warmly welcome to attend the service of Choral Evensong sung by the Clare College Choir, which will be held on Sunday 25 January at 6.00pm and will focus on Elizabeth de Burgh, the Lady of Clare, Foundress of the College. Music will include medieval carols from the time of the College’s founding, alongside works connected to Clare’s musical alumni, and The Magi by Cecilia McDowall, commissioned for the College’s 50th anniversary of co-education.

The service will last approximately one hour and will be followed by drinks. A roast supper in Hall will be available afterwards for those who wish to stay (£7.70, payable on the night). A pre-service organ recital will begin at 5.25pm, given by the Junior Organ Scholar.
