Fitzwilliam String Quartet
The Fitzwilliam String Quartet open their series of four concerts at Clare Hall with a selection of Bach, Mozart, and Schubert.
The Fitzwilliam String Quartet open their series of four concerts at Clare Hall with a selection from Bach’s Art of Fugue, followed by two great masterpieces of the quartet repertoire – Mozart’s Quartet K421 and Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden”. Both of these works, in the same tragic and melancholic key of D minor, showcase vastly different compositional approaches. One is seen through the lens of classical objectivity and the other, through early romantic subjectivity.
