Location: Clare Hall Meeting Room, Herschel Road, Cambridge CB3 9AL

All Clare Hall members are welcome to attend the IE SIG meeting taking place on 2 December at 5.30pm in the Meeting Room, followed by dinner in the Dining Hall. The speaker is Emma Salgard Cunha from Cambridge Enterprise, who will be giving a talk on Enterpreneurship in the AHSS disciplines.

Title: Enterprising in the arts, humanities and social sciences: Lessons from the University of Cambridge ecosystem on transforming research in arts, humanities and social sciences into high-impact social innovation

About the talk:

The humanities and social science disciplines are preoccupied with building knowledge, understanding systems and designing interventions in all areas of culture and society. Social innovation and enterprise provide a model for transforming and scaling societal impact – building and testing with real  users, meeting the market, and adapting expertise to provide solutions for urgent real-world needs. Yet building social science research into interventions and tools to create change can feel like straying into alien territory. Emma will talk about some of the inspiring social innovations developed and scaled out of the University of Cambridge and reflect on the mindset, skills and the sacrifices made by social science researchers who commit to building societal value beyond academic norms.
