Mindful Meditation Sessions
Please note: the sessions at the beginning of term have been postponed until 5 November.
Through mindfulness we cultivate attention to the here and now. We aim to witness our thoughts and feelings with detachment. We develop concentration, peace of mind and enjoyment of life with all its challenges.
As a group, we explore different means of developing mindfulness, including relaxation, guided meditation and attention to the breath or to a mantra. The sessions are led by Elizabeth Garnsey, and meet in the King Room on Main Site on Tuesdays 1-2pm during Full Term. We start on Tuesday 8 October this term.
The door is open 1-2 but you are welcome to slip in and out whenever convenient for you. All members of the college and friends are welcome, including students, staff, fellows, researchers and visitors. Please contact ewg11@cam.ac.uk with any questions.
Some students thought their experience last year might be of interest to you. Muskaan wrote:
“It’s honestly something I look forward to every week and it helps me check in with myself. These sessions have really made me feel at home in Cambridge.
I wanted to share how much I enjoyed the meditation classes led by Elizabeth. Our sessions often began with a body scan, which helped me feel grounded and more connected with myself. Each week, we explored different types of meditation, including gratitude and silent meditation. These sessions provided me with valuable insights and a peaceful break from daily distractions. I highly encourage everyone to join; it’s a truly enriching experience.”
