Cambridge Literary Festival’s spring programme (20-24 April 2022) will include a talk by Professor Frances Spalding, Affiliated Lecturer for Cambridge University’s History of Art Department and Emeritus Fellow of Clare Hall.

Titled The Real and the Romantic, Professor Spalding’s talk will explore how English art flourished between the two World Wars. Frances will give an illustrated talk, speaking to fellow author David Reynolds about the volatile cultural landscape of the 1920s and 1930s, and illuminating the alliances and shifts in artistic sensibility which fed into the creativity of the interwar years.
