Cambridge Literary Festival: Professor Frances Spalding to speak about English interwar art
Cambridge Literary Festival’s spring programme (20-24 April 2022) will include a talk by Professor Frances Spalding, Affiliated Lecturer for Cambridge University’s History of Art Department and Emeritus Fellow of Clare Hall.
Titled The Real and the Romantic, Professor Spalding’s talk will explore how English art flourished between the two World Wars. Frances will give an illustrated talk, speaking to fellow author David Reynolds about the volatile cultural landscape of the 1920s and 1930s, and illuminating the alliances and shifts in artistic sensibility which fed into the creativity of the interwar years.
The talk is being hosted by the Fitzwilliam Museum, taking place on Thursday 21 April 2022 from 6pm. Find further details and book your tickets via this page.
Cambridge Literary Festival is also hosting a talk by Clare Hall Honorary Fellow Ali Smith, as she discusses her latest book, Companion Piece, on Sunday 24 April.
Professor Spalding is Chair of Clare Hall’s Art Committee.
