Clare Hall Through Your Lens: a community view of College life
Over the course of Michaelmas 2025, members of the Clare Hall community have been sharing their perspectives of the College through Clare Hall Through Your Lens – a photography project inviting students, fellows, staff, and families to capture the grounds, gardens, and everyday moments that make Clare Hall special.

What began as a simple call for images quickly grew into a rich and varied collection. From quiet autumn paths and familiar buildings seen from unexpected angles, to glimpses of wildlife, allotment harvests, and changing light across the seasons, the submissions reveal Clare Hall as a place of calm, creativity, and shared experience.
The project was inspired by the positive response to our gardener Louise Ellis-Aylott’s garden diaries on social media, and it beautifully reflects that same spirit of attentiveness to the natural environment and college life. Contributions came from across the community, with photographers at all levels of experience – many using smartphones – showing that thoughtful observation matters more than technical equipment.

All contributors have been credited, and the images will be preserved as part of the College’s visual record, creating a lasting snapshot of Clare Hall during this milestone year. We are deeply grateful to everyone who took part and shared their view of the College.
Below is a collage of just some of the many wonderful submissions we received.
