Clare Hall welcomes guests to preview new exhibition by Marguerite Horner
Yesterday evening, 15 January, Clare Hall was delighted to host a preview of the new exhibition ‘All your Demons will Wither Away’, featuring the evocative paintings of British artist Marguerite Horner. The event drew a wonderful turnout, with College members, students, friends, and fellow artists joining the crowd to meet the artist and explore her remarkable work.

Clare Hall is proud to present this exhibition, which is open for public viewing Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm until 26 February 2026. The collection showcases Horner’s distinctive approach to contemporary painting, where dominant images of light on water come to life through oil and watercolour, unified by her use of grisaille—a traditional technique that she uses to bring luminosity and depth to sea and landscape themes.
Horner’s work in this show reflects her artistic journey, much of it inspired by her travels along the Californian coastline and developed during a prolific period of creation in 2022-23. Her paintings reveal both subtlety and striking effects of light, inviting viewers into contemplative encounters with colour, form, and atmosphere.

The preview was a lively and engaging evening, offering a first glimpse of an exhibition that has already sparked much interest. Clare Hall warmly invites the wider community to visit, enjoy the exhibition, and experience Marguerite Horner’s luminous vision in person. Below is a selection of photographs from the preview evening.
