Life Member’s book republished by Routledge
Life Member John Chadwick-Jones’s book, “Developing a Social Psychology of Monkeys and Apes,” which was originally published in 1998, has been published again by Routledge in 2024.
John Chadwick-Jones is a social psychologist and came to Clare Hall as a Visiting Fellow in 1982. While at Clare Hall, he met the eminent zoologist Robert Hinde of St John’s College, who was Head of a Medical Research Council Unit studying rhesus monkeys at that time. Robert was interested in social psychology, and John joined his research team for a year. Robert was a leader in his field and he had a decisive influence on John’s research.
I am very grateful to Clare Hall for providing support and opportunity to me, as a Visiting Fellow, to pursue research in Cambridge. Over the following decade, at the Institute of Psychology in Fribourg University, I was able to present some conclusions of this work in my book on the social behaviour of monkeys and apes.
