Professor Rana Mitter and Professor David Daokui Li present the 2025 Clare Hall Tanner and Tanner Founder’s Lecture

On Monday 17 March, we welcomed a full audience to the Robinson College Auditorium for the 2025 Clare Hall Tanner and Tanner Founder’s Lecture. Professor Rana Mitter, the ST Lee Chair in US-Asia Relations at the Harvard Kennedy School, opened the evening by speaking about historical trends in China’s relationship with the West and beyond, and the emerging future trends in China’s global relations. Following his lecture, Professor David Daokui Li, a leading Chinese economist and Professor of Economics at Tsinghua University, presented an inside perspective of China’s world view, and the international implications for the future.

The lectures were followed by a lively Q&A session with both speakers, and continued conversation over dinner at Clare Hall. Many thanks to Ian Olsson for the photos.
