Clare Hall is delighted to share news from Professor Rukmini Bhaya Nair, Life Member of the College, whose latest book is getting published this January by Bloomsbury as part of the Bloomsbury Studies in Philosophy and Poetry series.

In this new work, Professor Nair brings together her long-standing interests in linguistics, philosophy, and creativity, while also engaging with one of the most timely issues facing contemporary scholarship: the impact of artificial intelligence and Large Language Models (LLMs) on academia and creative practice. Her approach reflects the growing interest among scholars in understanding how machine-generated language is reshaping the way knowledge is produced and interpreted.

The book’s final chapter, “Chatting with Machines,” explores these questions in depth, examining dialogue between humans and AI systems and what such interactions reveal about language, meaning, and deception. The chapter also points toward Professor Nair’s future research directions as she continues to investigate the broader implications of AI for human creativity and intellectual life.

Clare Hall warmly congratulates Professor Nair on the publication of this insightful and forward-looking work and looks forward to following the development of her research in this rapidly evolving field.
