Melanne Verveer, Honorary Fellow of Clare Hall, and Rebecca Turkington, a PhD candidate in History here, have curated an exhibition titled Women’s Rights Are Human Rights: The United States and the U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women.

The exhibition, which launched yesterday at Georgetown University Library, Washington DC, examines the Fourth World Conference on Women, which was the largest UN conference in history, convening more than 6,000 official delegates from almost every country in the world.

Melanne is Executive Director of the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, working to promote a more stable, peaceful and just world by focusing on the important role women play in preventing conflict and building peace, growing economies and addressing global threats like violent extremism. Rebecca previously worked on gender, security and foreign policy as Assistant Director of the Women and Foreign Policy Programme at the Council on Foreign Relations, and at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security.
