2016 Anniversary Telephone Campaign Update

The 2016 Anniversary Telephone Campaign raised over £20,000 including many new legacy pledges and gifts of regular support. Our nine wonderful callers spoke to some 300 Life Members and friends located worldwide over the course of the two-week campaign just before Christmas.  Around half of those contacted responded positively by making a gift.  Read more

Irene Hills retires from Clare Hall

Irene Hills our wonderful Tutorial Secretary retired just before Christmas after 12 years of service.  Irene joined us in 2004 and since then has been a constant source of advice and support for all students passing through the College.  To mark the occasion staff and College members gathered in the Common Room for coffee and cake and Irene was presented with a beautiful necklace to commemorate her time here at Clare Hall.  We thank Irene and wish her all the very best for her retirement. Clare Hall Family Christmas Party

Clare Hall members and their children enjoyed a family Christmas party on Friday. Gathering in the common room, children were treated to a treasure hunt, festive crafts, delicious food and an extra special visit from Santa.Thank you to all those who attended and keep checking the website for more family events in 2017.

3rd UK Academia-Net meeting at Clare Hall

This October, twenty-six Academia-Net members, renowned experts in science and academia from Cambridge, London, Oxford, Preston, and Norwich, came together for their third UK meeting at Clare Hall, Cambridge. Clare Hall Spanish Society - Bilbao 2016

Clare Hall President David Ibbetson and former College Secretary Liz Ramsden joined the Spanish Society at their latest meeting in Bilbao in October.  Our Spanish Life members have fond memories of Liz from their time at Clare Hall and were particularly delighted that she could join them so soon after her recent retirement.  Professor Ibbetson opened the workshop with an interesting lecture on the history of Spanish Law.  This was followed by a number of talks on subjects such as manufacturing from an economic point of view, the importance of the Red Cross in specific... PhD student news: Meet Lucy – a robot that lights up your life

One of our former PhD students Diva Tommei, has received significant national press coverage for her invention related to interior light.  Lucy the light bouncing robot reflects light back into rooms using a mirror which tracks the sun and is a cost-effective way of bringing natural light into your home or workplace.  Dr Tommei has now successfully crowdfunded £150k via an Indiegogo campaign in order to start selling her product, the first of it’s kind, to the public.    Further links...
