Dame Gillian Beer book launch

On Monday 30 January Clare Hall hosted a Drinks Reception for Dame Gillian Beer to coincide with the publication of her new book 'Alice in Space - The Sideways Victorian World of Lewis Carroll'. Over 50 friends and colleagues came together to listen to Gillian read from Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky poem and to hear about the years of work and research that have gone into her new book.   Further Links... Cambridge Trust - Clare Hall Talks

The first edition of the ‘Cambridge Trust - Clare Hall Talks’ took place this week. The series aims to promote the research projects undertaken by Cambridge Trust scholars based at Clare Hall. The event included presentations by Brynja Thorgeirsdottir, Elias Nosrati, Heidi Mogstad and M. Boak Masters Awards

Up to three bursaries of £5,000 each are awarded annually to assist graduate students undertaking a Masters degree in any subject at the University of Cambridge. The primary criteria are academic merit and research potential. Read more

Robert Anderson appointed President and CEO of Chemical Heritage Foundation

Clare Hall Fellow and former Director of the British Museum Robert Anderson, has been selected as the President and CEO of Chemical Heritage Foundation. He has been interim President since 28 July, 2016, stepping into the role from his position as Vice Chair of CHF’s Board of Directors.  Read more

2016 Anniversary Telephone Campaign Update

The 2016 Anniversary Telephone Campaign raised over £20,000 including many new legacy pledges and gifts of regular support. Our nine wonderful callers spoke to some 300 Life Members and friends located worldwide over the course of the two-week campaign just before Christmas.  Around half of those contacted responded positively by making a gift.  Read more

Irene Hills retires from Clare Hall

Irene Hills our wonderful Tutorial Secretary retired just before Christmas after 12 years of service.  Irene joined us in 2004 and since then has been a constant source of advice and support for all students passing through the College.  To mark the occasion staff and College members gathered in the Common Room for coffee and cake and Irene was presented with a beautiful necklace to commemorate her time here at Clare Hall.  We thank Irene and wish her all the very best for her retirement. Clare Hall Family Christmas Party

Clare Hall members and their children enjoyed a family Christmas party on Friday. Gathering in the common room, children were treated to a treasure hunt, festive crafts, delicious food and an extra special visit from Santa.Thank you to all those who attended and keep checking the website for more family events in 2017.
