Dr Zak Kinsella
Dr Kinsella is a Visiting Scholar at the Precision Breast Cancer Institute, Department of Oncology.
Zak completed his PhD in Molecular Oncology at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. His thesis explored breast cancer multi-omics with a particular focus on digital pathology, spatial proteomics, and spatial transcriptomics, and their use for predicting treatment response, particularly chemotherapy overtreatment.
In September 2024, he joined Prof. Jean Abraham’s group. Zak currently works between the University of Cambridge and RCSI. His work aims to translate multimodal features of the breast cancer tumour-immune microenvironment, with a view to generate novel prognostic and predictive markers for optimal patient treatment stratification in the NHS. Additionally, he is the co-supervisor of a doctoral candidate at RCSI.
Outside of the lab, Zak enjoys running, cooking, mountaineering, and reading philosophy.
