Clare Hall Art Exhibition

Clare Hall Art Committee is hosting the vernissage of Drippings & Constructions, an exhibition of artworks by Dutch artist Jan Swart, on Thursday, 20 October, 6pm - 8pm.Jan Swart has built an extensive oeuvre in the past thirty years while experimenting with various techniques from oil paintings to drawings (charcoal, pastel), collages (newspaper photographs) and more recently Chinese ink on paper.  His work can be found in many private collections in the Netherlands, the US, the UK, Norway and the Czech Republic.The vernissage will be preceded by a wine... Professor Julian Mortenson, Professor of Law at the University of Michigan, and Visiting Fellow at Clare Hall will be speaking on 'Civil Rights Strategy: LGBT Litigation in the United States' at the next Colloquium on the 18th October. BP - Clare Hall India Innovation Masters Studentships for 2017-18

David Thouless wins Nobel prize in physics

Congratulations to the three British scientists who have won the Nobel prize in physics for their work on exotic states of matter that may pave the way for quantum computers and other revolutionary technologies.David Thouless, Duncan Haldane and Michael Kosterlitz will share the 8m Swedish kronor prize announced by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm on Tuesday.  Special congratulations to David Thouless, 82, a valued Life Member of the college, who was born in Bearsden in Scotland and now works at the University of Washington in Seattle, who was awarded half of the prize....
