The Donald West and Mary Elizabeth King Visiting Fellowship in Pathology at Clare Hall and the Department of Pathology, University of Cambridge

The Governing Body of Clare Hall in the University of Cambridge proposes to elect The Donald West and Mary Elizabeth King Visiting Fellow in Pathology at Clare Hall and the Department of Pathology in the University of Cambridge. The Electors of the Visiting Fellowship shall include the President of Clare Hall, the Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pathology and the Director or Senior Scientist of the Medical Research Council, Laboratory of Molecular Biology (MRC) unit of the University of Cambridge.

Applications are invited from any individual who holds a tenured position in the biological and medical science departments in a University, Hospital or Research Institute in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.  It is expected that the Visiting Fellowship will start from 1st October 2013.

The Visiting Fellowship will normally be hosted by the Department of Pathology, but collaborative arrangements with other appropriate academic departments are welcome when the Visiting Fellow’s research interests make this appropriate.

The term of the Visiting Fellowship will be for a nine month period, although shorter periods of no less than 6 months may be considered on a pro rata basis in exceptional circumstances, during the Academic year July 1st through June 30th of the following year, noting that teaching and staff full attendance is generally during the three quarters October 1 through June 30.

The successful candidate will receive free accommodation and meals during their stay at Clare Hall and will additionally receive a stipend of £7,000 which may be used by the Visiting Fellow for travel or expended by the Visiting Fellow to support the Fellowship.

Applications should be submitted electronically to the Bursar of Clare Hall (bursar@clarehall.cam.ac.uk) and include a full CV and the names, addresses and emails of three referees who are familiar with your work. It would be helpful if at least one of the referees were from outside your institution. It is the applicant’s  responsibility to ask each of their referees to send the reference directly to the Fellowship Committee at the above email address by the closing date.  Your application cannot be processed until all the references have been received. Applications should also include a statement of the proposed research to be carried out in Cambridge, including its aims and a brief plan of the investigation.  The closing date for the receipt of applications and references is:

Friday 31st October 2012

Decisions will be known by 1st February 2013.
